Privacy Policy
In short
Handpilot does not collect, store or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
How Handpilot works
Handpilot connects your iPhone directly to the Macs you have paired with it, over your local network. Pointer movements, keystrokes, screen images and clipboard contents travel only between your own devices, encrypted, and never pass through a server, neither ours nor anyone else’s.
What is stored on your devices
- Pairing keys, in the Keychain of your iPhone and your Mac.
- Your settings, such as pointer speed.
- Icons of your Mac’s apps, cached on your iPhone so they load faster.
To remove them, forget the Mac in the iPhone app, revoke the iPhone in Handpilot’s settings on the Mac, or delete the apps.
Permissions
- iPhone, Local Network: to find your Mac and connect to it.
- iPhone, Camera: only to scan the pairing code. Images are neither stored nor sent.
- Mac, Accessibility: to move the pointer, click and type for the connected iPhone.
Mac, Screen Recording (optional): to show your screen in the iPhone’s Screen tab. macOS shows its recording indicator meanwhile.
Clipboard
While clipboard sharing is on, what you copy is sent to your other device. Content that password managers mark as private is never shared. You can turn clipboard sharing off in Handpilot’s settings on the Mac and on the iPhone.
